Tulsa Bone & Joint attended the Catoosa Football Parent’s Night on Wednesday, September 6 to be a part of the discussion on concussion protocols and safety in football for athletes grades 7 -12. As the official medical provider for Catoosa Athletics, we support the safety of athletes in all sports and know that educating young athletes on the latest concussion information and prevention is important. Athletes who participate in any sport in which they potentially come in contact with another player or surface should have a baseline concussion test taken prior to the beginning of the sport’s season. The baseline concussion test serves as an integral part in determining the athletes course of treatment following a concussion. Any athlete that suffers a concussion on the playing field should always see a physician immediately.
